Na de algemene opleiding tot treindienstleider werd je een heleboel weken naast een vakman op de post neergezet. Het deel "Plaatselijke bekendheid" is bedoeld als de tips van die vakman die je van alles vertelt gedurende die weken! Lees het goed door. Het zorgt ervoor dat je veel beter begrijpt wat er allemaal gebeurt. Ook worden hier “standaard” werkmethoden beschreven.

De tekst is geschreven als een “van collega tot collega”-gesprek dat plaatsvindt op de allereerste dag na de opleiding dat je op de post komt.

The S-bahn services S1 and S3 stop here at tracks 401 and 404, and the S9 service stop along trakcs 402 and 403. The NWB service from Borken do no scheduled stops here.

Tracks 921, 923, 924 and 925 are fully equipped with ARS (Zuglenkung)! There is a peculiarity though:
*The ARS of the signals G923 and F925, out of the direction of Essen Hbf, may '''not''' be enabled!!
*You may only set entry routes from those tracks into 404 and 406 when the track section behind the exit signals P403 or P406 (454/456) are unoccupied!!

Essen West is a remotely controlled signal box of type Sp Dr S 59.
That is why the overlap routes in Essen West do not release automatically, and thus have to be revoked manually.

As the overlap routes of signals P404 and P406 in Essen West are very short, the railway authorities have issued an order which prohibits the usage of the auto fleeting of signals G923 and F925! Additionally, you may only set entry routes into tracks 404 and 406, when the track sections (454/456) behind exit signals P403 and/or P406 are completely unoccupied.

Signals with auto fleeting including ARS can be recognized by the SB indicators. Whilst the station tracks for the S-Bahn services are fully equipped with ARS for the normal direction of traffic, the train routes into the station tracks for long distance services must be set manually!!

==== Essen Hbf Rangierbahnhof (Ero) (EE O) ====

The former shunt yard (Rangierbahnhof) has been shut down completely except for the tracks 313 through 315. Originally the orange area was controlled by a local switch guard. Nowadays this signal box is abandoned and Ero is operated remotely from Essen Hbf. Only shunt movements to and from this area are possible. The freight track (113) is excluded from this "rule".

==== Essen Waldthausen (EE W) ====

A service depot for local train services. Again, this orange area is operated by switch guards of signal box Wsb II in reality, though not implemented as such in this simulation. A maintenance hall is located on tracks 240/210 and 239/209. Those tracks have a maximum speed limit of 5 km/h. There is a washing hall on track 237/207, with a maximum allowed speed of 2 km/h.

Here we have the possibility to send trains as a shunt movement towards Essen West via track 200.

====Automatische Rijweg Instelling (ARI)====

Het seinhuis Essen Hbf heeft seinen met ingebouwde Automatische Rijweg Instelling (ARI / Zuglenkung) en seinen met alleen een seinautomaat. De seinen met ARI bevinden zich meestal op die plaatsen vanaf waar meerdere rijwegen mogelijk zijn. De seinen met alleen een seinautomaat zijn meestal seinen vanaf waar maar één rijweg mogelijk is.

Het hier toegepaste ARI systeem werkt op basis van het volledige treinnummer, dus niet alleen het stuurcijfer. Als een sein met ARI een bepaalde trein niet "kent", zal het nummer in treinnummer venster in zijn geheel knipperen. Dit wijst de treindienstleider er op dat hij zelf iets moet doen. Of hij stelt de rijweg zelf in, of in het geval het treinnummer verkeerd is, corrigeert hij het treinnummer. Wat betreft het laatste: vergeet niet dat het altijd mogelijk is dat de treindienstleider van een buurpost een verkeerd nummer heeft ingevoerd. We zijn tenslotte allemaal mensen. Let dus zelf ook goed op of je wel het juiste treinnummer invoert.

Alle volgens dienstregeling geplande treinen die door het beheersgebied van Essen Hbf passeren zijn bekend binnen het ARI systeem.

Het ARI systeem voor seinen met ARI kan op dezelfde manier in- of uitgeschakeld worden als voor seinen met enkel een seinautomaat. Daar is geen onderscheid in gemaakt. Het lampje dat aangeeft of de seinautomaat/ARI ingeschakeld is bevindt zich nabij het sein.

=====Treinen aan het perron van Essen Hbf=====
De standaard uitrijseinen langs de sporen 1-12,21 en 22 hebben ook ARI. Echter, de rijwegen worden NIET automatisch ingesteld. De treindienstleider moet dit doen.

Als niks een uitrij-rijweg in de weg staat, kan het volgende gedaan worden:

Voorbeeld: Een trein op spoor 011 richting "links" is gereed voor vertrek. (Het ARI systeem weet waar de trein heen moet)
*voer op het Numerieke Invoer paneel "011" in
*druk op de "Pijl Links" toets
*druk op Enter. (ATK)

De uitrij-rijweg zal nu automatisch in de juiste richting ingesteld worden.

Voorwaarden:
* Seinautomaat/ARI ingeschakeld voor het betreffende uitrijsein
* Sein geeft seinbeeld Stop
* De trein bevindt zich op het perronspoor of rijdt er zojuist naar binnen.
* De trein moet bekend zijn (nummer mag niet knipperen!)

Indien het treinnummer knippert, wordt er geen rijweg ingesteld bij seinen met ARI!

=====ARI ondersteuning=====
Het ARI systeem is in de simulatie iets intelligenter gemaakt. Zelfs als je een trein over een ander spoor hebt geleid, zal de trein zijn weg het station uit vinden.
Deze optie kan in het menu gevonden worden onder "Bewerk -> ARI".

Dit hulpmiddels is niet beschikbaar op het echte seinhuis, maar de doorsnee gebruiker heeft hulp nodig in Essen ... er is nou eenmaal waanzinnig veel verkeer.
