Traffic codes are used to enable or disable additional traffic. These are enabled or disabled through the use of faxes. The timetable used during the simulation must support traffic codes. A timetable may allow for the the use of multiple traffic codes - more than one traffic code may be used at a time.

Traffic codes are designed to be used when in Line Operations although it is possible to send faxes to yourself (either directly or using Send to All) and thus, traffic controlled by traffic codes may be managed when in single player mode.

Determining Which Codes are Active

The Traffic Information tab of the Fax Window shows which codes are currently active, and which codes are inactive. If no codes are shown, the current timetable does not contain any traffic controlled using traffic codes.

Additionally, selecting a train in the Upcoming Trains list in the Train Overview will show the train's traffic code(s) in the Train Overview's status bar.

Enabling a Traffic Code

To enable a traffic code in a specific simulation, you must send a fax message to that simulation. Specify which code must be activated using the Traffic Code dropdown list and the Trafficcode add.png button when sending a fax. When a simulation receives a command to activate a traffic code, additional traffic will be routed via that simulation. Generally, it is much simpler to broadcast the activation of a traffic code so that all connected simulations are expecting extra traffic. Broadcasting occurs when a fax message is sent with the Send to All checkbox is checked.

Disabling a Traffic Code

To disable a traffic code (either for one simulation/station, or for everyone in the portal line, send a fax message after having selected the code to disable from the Traffic Code dropdown list, and pressing the Trafficcode remove.png button.
