Before you get your approval to run the service on a signal box, you need to find out about the local characteristics. After training as a general trainee signalman, dispatchers were always paired with a person skilled in the signal box. This chapter is a brief introduction to the area. Read it carefully. It contains very important information.
The text is "peer to peer" written as if you are in the signal box, the first day after training.
Stellwerk Trudering
Introduction
Welcome to signal box Trudering (Tf). I'm Toni and I'll show you everything important here.
Our signal box is located along the line München-Salzburg and was taken into service in 1969, replacing two mechanical interlockings of the type Einheit Mw. Our dispatching area extends over almost 14 km and includes the entire route from Trudering to Baldham, which is essentially divided into the S-Bahn (green) and the long-distance line (blue). These lines run parallel to each other along their entire length.
On our panel we primarily have Trudering station with Abzw. Waldtrudering (junction), the remote-controlled station of Haar and all stops in between, and finally the lines to Daglfing (München Nordring) and München Ost Rangierbahnhof which branch off from Trudering.

Detailed overview lines
Neighbouring Dispatching Areas
München Ost Pbf
On the top right we have our neighbor München Ost Personenbahnhof (MOP) (Passenger station) or just München Ost for short, from which the blue long-distance line and the green S-Bahn line reach our area. There is a junction and the stop Berg am Laim along the S-Bahn line between us and München Ost, but from here we can only see the tracks that lead to us. In the case of trains turning around, it is important not to set the exit route before the departure time, otherwise the auto fleeting at junction Berg am Laim will activate far too early, and will mess up the line sequence of the S-Bahn, For S-Bahn trains arriving from Haar, the auto fleeting mode does this for us. It only activates the exit route once a train occupies track 4.
In the direction of München Ost there is only GWB available on the S-Bahn line, but not for the long-distance line.

München Ost Rbf
One track below we find the line to our neighbor München Ost Rangierbahnhof (MOR). München Ost Rbf is controlled by two mechanical signal boxes. There are some special features on this line because we also control the entry and exit signals of Munich East Rbf. Since there are no direction permission arrows on this section, a route must be set from the "v.Mor" button towards signal 953 or towards entry signal B after accepting a train, so the signal box in MOR receives approval to release a train. Into the other direction, in addition to setting the exit route towards MOR, we also have to set the entrance from signal 952 to "n.Mor".
Daglfing
Our last neighbor on this side of the panel is the train station of Daglfing (MDFG), which is remotely controlled by the dispatcher in Unterföhring. From there the line continues via Johanneskirchen to the Rangierbahnhof München Nord (shunt yard). Since the route to Daglfing is just under a kilometer, you should set the entrance route to Trudering relatively soon after accepting a train. You should definitely avoid bringing a train to a standstill in front of the entry signal, otherwise the level crossing at km 32.340 could quickly become disrupted.
Zorneding
Our only neighbor on the left is the dispatcher in Kirchseeon, who controls our direct neighboring station in Zorneding. The lines to Zorneding are also divided into the S-Bahn line (green) and the long-distance line (blue). The stops at Vaterstetten (409/410) and Baldham (411/412) are located along the S-Bahn tracks between Haar and Zorneding. In the direction of Zorneding, GWB is only available on the long-distance line.

Stations and Sidings
Trudering
The station of Trudering offers us 10 tracks, all of which can be fully used for train routes. Tracks 1 and 2 are the long-distance line, tracks 3 and 4 are the S-Bahn line with the only platform in the station and tracks 5-10 which are mainly used by freight traffic. In Trudering, tracks 1-4 are each equipped with a simple automatic fleeting system for the normal direction of travel. However, the auto fleeting on signal N3 should be used with caution, since outside rush hours the S4 line turns around here and if the auto fleeting is active, it will be activate quickly. Occasionally it also happens that regional trains have to change from the S-Bahn to the long-distance line or vice versa. This is indicated in the timetable under the comments and requires the appropriate attention from us.
Personnel changes or longer stops also take place regularly on the freight tracks, so it is important to pay attention to what is in the additional comments in the timetable instead of blindly setting pass-through routes.
In the event of a disruption, we are of course free to divert trains via the long-distance line or S-Bahn, however it is important to realize that we only change from the S-Bahn to the long-distance line in Trudering. The other way around, in Haar we have the option of leaving the S-Bahn into the direction of the long-distance line or sending trains further down into the direction of Zorneding, where changing from the S-Bahn to the long-distance line is also possible.
The overlap routes all have to be revoked manually here.
Abzw Waldtrudering
Immediately after Trudering, the Abzw Waldtrudering (junction) connects to us. Here it is possible to merge and exit from the long-distance line onto the freight tracks to/from Trudering. All switches at the junction can be branched off at 80 km/h, while the long-distance line can be used at 160 km/h, so when freight trains are merging, make sure that traffic on the long-distance line is not slowed down. Oh yes, you can safely ignore the inscription "Awanst Neutrudering". This has been removed a long time ago but it was probably forgotten to remove the field with its name from the panel.
The junction has auto fleeting on Bksig 301 and Bksig 302, but to avoid routing into the wrong direction, we mostly disable auto fleeting for signal 302.
Haar
The station of Haar is located on the bottom left of our panel and is remotely controlled by us. It can also be manned locally in the event of a disruption. In Haar we have the main tracks 101/102 of the long-distance line and on the S-Bahn tracks 104/105. Track 103 is used for overtaking. In Haar we also have a siding in the area of the S-Bahn, track 115, but this is not used in regular operation. The stop Gronsdorf (407/408) is located between Haar and Trudering. In Haar, we have also have simple auto fleeting for all entry and exit signals. The only exception to this is track 103, here we have to set the entry and exit routes ourselves, so if a train is to be overtaken, we must act early enough before the auto fleeting beats us.
All overlap routes are revoked automatically in Haar.
