Before you get your approval to run the service on a signal box, you need to find out about the local characteristics. After training as a general trainee signalman, dispatchers were always paired with a person skilled in the signal box. This chapter is the brief introduction to the area. Read it carefully. It contains very important information.
The text is "peer to peer" written as if you are in the signal box, the first day after training.
Have a more detailed look at the Brohl panel here.
Signal Box Brohl
General
The signal box of Brohl is located along the electrified double-track main line 'Linke Rheinstrecke', line number 2630 from Cologne to Mainz between the stations of Sinzig and Andernach.
Neighbouring Dispatching Areas
On the top right (track 02/39) are the connecting tracks towards the dispatching area of Andernach (KAND). Wrong line operation (Gleiswechselbetrieb or GWB) towards and from Andernach is possible.
On the top left (track 24/23) the 'Linke Rheinstrecke' will leave our dispatching area to the South towards Remagen (KRE). The station of Sinzig (KSIZ) is the next controlled location in this direction. Wrong line operation (GWB) towards and from Sinzig is not possible.

Track Change Operation (GWB)
Track Change Operation (GWB), in German called Gleiswechselbetrieb (GWB), is wrong line operation or Left track operation on the open line. The infrastructure is equipped with automatic block(s) which can be used into both directions. GWB is only possible between Brohl and Andernach. However, GWB has its limitations because from the GWB cannot be reached from all tracks, and not all tracks can be reached from GWB.
The following tracks can not be accessed from within GWB:
- Towards the south <--
- Brohl track 1 (no trainroute possible)
Exit routes from tracks into GWB are not possible for:
- Towards the north -->
- Brohl track 1
- Brohl track 9
- Brohl track 11
We have direction controls on the open lines towards the neighbouring areas. This means that you need to use the EaGT button to set the direction of the automatic blocks towards you. Of course, you must offer a train to Sechtem or Bonn Hbf prior to sending trains into GWB.
