Besides the normal buttons on the panel, there are the so-called Außentasten (group buttons). These group button are available in a separate window to ease operating these kind of buttons. Some group buttons are also available on the Number Entry controls (if available for the signal box).

The group buttons are needed for special control actions. Space on the panel is saved, as each group button is used in combination with one or two of the 'normal' buttons. Moreover, in this way the concept of two-key operation is implemented consistently: the (accidental) pressing of a single key will never affect the operation, because this can be potentially more dangerous.

The group buttons are grouped depending on their function, and arranged in different colored blocks:

Switch Group buttons (blue)

• Partial Route Auxiliary Button (FHTE) : Revokes a part of a train route.
• Partial Route Release Button (FRTE) : Revokes a part of a (shunt) route.
• Throw Switch Button (WGT) : Used for throwing (changing position of) switches.
• Buzzer Interruptor (WUT) : A buzzer will sound when a switch or several switches have been moving into position for a long time. This button silences the buzzer.
• Throw Occupied Switch Button (WHT) : Similar to WGT, except that the switch may be occupied. Normally, this button is not used.
• Trailed Switch Reset Button (WAT) : When a switch has been trailed, a buzzer will sound. This button resets the switch.
• Lock Switch Button (WSpT) : Manually locks a switch to prevent it from being thrown.
• Unlock Switch Button (WESpT) : Manually unlocks a switch to prevent it from being thrown.
• Switch Selection (KWT) : Changes which double or single slip switch branches receive input when other switch group buttons are used.

Signal Group buttons (red)

• Activate Signal Button (SGT) : Activates block or cover signals.
• Stop Signal Button (HaGT) : Puts a signal to stop.
• Subsidiary Signal Group Button 1 (ErsGT1) : When used with a main signal, shows the subsidiary aspect Zs 1.
• Subsidiary Signal Group Button 2 (ErsGT2) : When used with a main signal, shows the subsidiary aspect Zs 1.
• Show Subsidiary Signal to Wrong Line Group Button (FfGT) : To set the signal Zs 8 (wrong line operation) at the main signal.
• Buzzer interruption button (signal failure) (HuT) : switches of the buzzer in case of signal failure

Route Group buttons (green)

• Full Route Auxiliary Button (FHTG) : Revokes a complete train route.
• Overlap Route Release Button (DRT) : Revokes an overlap route behind a signal.
• Complete Shunt Route Release Button (FRTG) : Revokes a complete route.
• Route Lock Apply Button (FSpT) : Sets a lock for route setting over a track section or a route starting at a signal.
• Route Locked Override Button (SpUT) :
• Route Lock Release Button (FESpT) : Releases a lock for route setting over a track section or a route starting at a signal.
• Set Route To Track Without OLE Button (FfrT) : Used to set routes to track without overhead line equipment (OLE).
• Alternate Route Enforcement Button (UFGT) : Used to choose an alternative route, given the current position of switches.
• Activate Fleeting Button (SBET) : Enables fleeting of a signal.
• Deactivate Fleeting Button (SBRT) : Disables fleeting of a signal.
• Set Route From Middle Switch (MGT) : Used to set routes from middle switches.
• Lock Track Button (GSpT) : Used to manually lock sections of track.
• Unlock Track Button (GESpT) : Used to unlock sections of track having been previously locked using GSpT.
• Cooperation Group Button (ZGT) : To give permission for a train- or shunting movement across the border of the area of responsibility.

Level Crossings Group buttons (yellow)

• Level Crossing Keep Closed Button (DET) : Forces a level crossing to stay closed.
• Level Crossing Keep Closed Off Button (DELT) : Allows a level crossing to open after having used DET.
• Level Crossing Closure Off Button (ASpT) : Prevents a level crossing from closing automatically.
• Level Crossing Closure Off Delete Button (LT) : Allows a level crossing to close automatically again, after being prevented from doing so.
• Level Crossing Manually Close Button (ET) : Manually closes a level crossing.
• Level Crossing Secure Button (BÜFT) : Manually secures a closed level crossing.
• Level Crossing Secured Auxiliary Button (BÜHFT) : Resets a level crossing for the purpose of manually revoking a route.
• Level Crossing Auxiliary Button (HAT) : To deactivate a closed level crossing.

Axle Counter Group buttons (brown)

• Axle Counter Reset Button (AzGrT): To reset an axle counter.

Block Group Buttons (dark grey)

• Direction Button (EaGT) : Used to set a block direction towards you.
• Direction Revoke Button (EaLT) : Used to cancel pre-setting a block direction towards you.
• Block Disable Button (BlSpT): To lock a signal of an automatic block.
• Block Enable Button (BlESpT): To unlock a signal of an automatic block.
• Block Reset Button (BlGrT): To reset the track occupation indication of an automatic block section.

Panel Group Buttons (light grey)

• Switch to toggle switch positions on the panel (Stelltisch) on or off.
• Switch to switch between several panel brightness modes (Helligkeitsstufen).
• Switch to toggle signal brightness between day and night mode.
