In this picture the rest state is shown. Main signal R101 shows Hp 0 (Stop). The signal R101k functions here as a distant signal repeater. The main signal R101k is operationally switched off, and thus showing the Kennlicht.

In this picture the situation is shown that an entrance route from signal R101 towards track 21 has been set. The main signal R101 is operationally switched off (Kennlicht), as is located only 700 meters from the next main signal N21. It just functions as a distant signal repeater. Signal R101k, located at braking distance from the exit signal N21, now shows Hp 1 (Proceed) and Vr 0 (Expect stop).

The last picture shows the situation that an entrance route from signal R101 towards track 24 has been set. Signal R101 is now showing Hp 2 (reduced speed) + Vr 0 (expect stop). As the braking distance between this signal and N24 is long enough (due to the reduced speed), the distant signal will not show its white lamp. The signal R101k functions as distant signal repeater here, and the main signal has been operationally switched off (Kennlicht).

This yard is only used to put a freight train away or the turning around of the ICE trains in the morning.
